Northern Star Quilters Guild 2012 show
This past weekend was NSQG's Annual guild show. I was able to take a few photos of the some of the special exhibits. I'm sorry hadn't had a chance to take more. It was truly a magnificent show. One of the special exhibits' paid homage to the Red and White exhibit that hung in the 69th St. Amory in NYC. The membership of our guild made 92 miniature red and whites quilt and others loaned their large R&W's for the exhibit.
The other exhibit, that I was able to photograph, was one by The FiberArt NE group. It was called Totems and the hung from the ceiling in one of the class rooms.
If I missed some of the totems I apologize. Not all the photos came out good enough for posting. And no amount of photoshopping was going to fix them. But the comments I heard from the people who where there were wonderful. Kudo's to my fellow Art quilters. You all did a bang up job.
P.S. I didn't participate in the Totem exhibit. But I did in the R&W. Also, if you would like to see a video of the show, here is the link http://youtu.be/qlTC8xTpXpU

Annual FiberArtNE Show
Yesterday was FiberArt North East's opening reception. We had a wonderful turnout and the food was delicious. I have posted all the quilts that were in the show. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed sharing them with you.

Jane Davila a friend and leader of our FiberArt group asked all of us if we would take one of her printed bug squares and do whatever we wanted to it except quilt it. We will then hand them back to her to use has samples in her workshops. I took the dragonfly. First I took the paintstick and applied the color on paint palette. In this case the waxy side of freezer paper. Then with a dry stencil brush I colored in the back ground. I was going to then stencil some leaves or flowers in the background. But I had already packed them away and I couldn't fine them...LOL Oh well! I did find my stamps and fabric paint pens. And so use them instead. Then I painted the dragonfly wings. I think, it came out kinda cute.

New Jewelry
I've been keeping busy finishing up jewelry UFO's ...Which is the bracelet below. I love the funky look to it. A great summer bracelet. I also made some earrings. These were quick and what I think of as the potato chips of the jewelry world. Instant gratification to make you feel good in finishing something..By quick I mean they only took 2 hours for one pair. Instead of a couple of days.
I liked these earrings so much that I made one pair for sale and one for myself.

Nature's Bounty
Wow, I can't believe I'm back from South Carolina a month already. We've been very busy here getting the house ready for Sale. But I did make time to finish a quilt that I had started a few years ago. Well, maybe a little more then a few years...LOL...Anyway, it is finished. This is the 1st time I ever did the big stitch instead of the standard hand quilting stitch. But I needed to finish it quickly so that it can go into the Northern Star quilters Show in May. It's funny but when I was working on it, I didn't like it. I can see all my mistakes. That's what happens when you have your nose into it. I even thought of taking my name off it and calling it anonymous. Now that I'm over myself, and standing back, It's not really that bad. I don't expect any ribbons, but that's OK....Bye the way, the blocks were from Gabrielle Swains book "From the quilters' Garden"

New App for posting on blog and other places
My laptop crashed so I'm posting from IPad. I bought a really neat app that does a whole bunch of things. One of which is posting to my blog from it. So I'm playing around with it to see what it can do what it can't. As you can see, when I wrote "Our visit to Beaufort" it wasn't where I expected to be on the blog. Right now I can't seem to edit it out. I can't seem to do any editing on my blog when I'm on my IPad. Need to find out what that's about.
